Books in the hands of the children

A teaching colleague, Susan, generously donated several hundred early reader books that she had purchased some time ago, and no longer needed for her elementary class. These wonderful books are perfect for K, K-1, and 1 level English learners. I was lucky to be able to deliver these books into the hands of Vandy, Sitha, and Sargit. Vandy took some to use at KCham; Sitha took some for the NHO orphanage in Phnom Penh, and Sargit took the reminder to divide among the other orphanages and perhaps to use as part of the curriculum writing project he in getting ready to roll out at several governement schools. Vandy sent a photo of some of the children at KCham.

Vandy's Conversation Class tries out the Acer and Rosetta Stone

I got a wonderful email from Vandy today! His conversation class is having a great time working with the program. The students in Vandy's class take turns for 15 minutes each. Here are two of the children from the orphanage, Sophy and Sreyhen, giving it a try!

In Vandy's email he says: "Hi Mom Wanda how are you ? I am do good with my teach the Rosetta stone and the computer is still runing and all the children they are so funny with the web (computer program) they love to study and they always to wait for them turn to try this web (program) I let them learn one buy one they want to say thank you so much for this computer and web (program) we love you . and I had to send this photos to you "

English Program Delivered to Cambodia

What a pleasure and a blessing to be able to travel to Phnom Penh this past weeked to deliver a donated Acer computer loaded with a donated Rosetta Stone American English Levels 1-5 program to Vandy and Phearom from Kampong Cham's NHO Orphanage. Several generous donors from Taipei International Church in Tien Mu, Taiwan, donated the funds to make this incredible journey possible; truly it is only the beginning of a journey. What an amazing first step.

On Saturday, May 21, 2011, I flew from Taipei to Phnom Penh to meet with Vandy and Phearom. They took the bus from rural Kampong Cham NHO Orphanage to meet with me at the Golden gate Hotel Saturday afternoon. Together we worked our way through an introduction to the Acer computer and the Rosetta Stone English program. They were soooooooooo excited.
